2.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like this game....., July 16, 2011

This review is from: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Video Game)
I've played the Harry Potter Game Boy Advance games on the DS....as well as HP 4,5 and 6 on the DS platform. I was really looking forward to this game and I have to say....it was a HUGE let down for me.

      CONS:
      * From the start, the graphics are mediocre. The characters still don't speak, there are subtitles for the conversation.

      * The lack of conversation wouldn't have been so bad...if there was SOME background music. I thought I needed to adjust the settings on my DS because it was so quiet. But no, there is no background music. The only background sound that I have found, is when you are trying to cast a spell. Not even your decoy detonators make noise (I know, cause I wasted a bunch....couldn't tell if they were going off!!)

      * The controls are COMPLETELY wonky! You are given an invisibility cloak....which is completely useless. I found that even while invisible AND standing still, the death eaters still walked right over and found... Read more

I thoroughly enjoy playing Harry Potter videogames. Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince for PS3 are especially good, in that they really bring the stories to life and make you feel as though you're part of the action, especially in the way that they designed the map to be continuous. I love pretty much all the HP games that I've played so far - EXCEPT for this game and Order of the Phoenix for DS. Both games are SO poorly designed that they leave the player wondering if the designers were in a hurry, just plain not interested, or some pathetic combination of both.

One of the BIGGEST flaws of this game is the fact that the characters never move their lips when they talk. I HATE it when designers do that! >:-( I mean, are they SO lazy or in too much of a hurry to take the extra time needed to make the characters' lips move? And do they ACTUALLY think that we won't NOTICE that, like all of a sudden our favorite characters are VENTRILOQUISTS now?! Come ON... Read more

I'm a 70 year old grandmother who LOVES Harry Potter. This is the first game of Harry Potter that I bought for my Nintendo DS. I think I should get one of the previous games, though. I am enjoying this one, but get hung up on potion making. I'm just not fast enough for some of them. But I'm determined!! So, I guess that means I really like the challenge of the game!

I never buy anything like this that doesn't require "modification". This was no exception. The box arrived destroyed. It had been wrapped in plastic wrap to hold it togethor. The delivery guy understood however that I wanted to check it out before I accepted it so he and I tore it apart to see if there was any damage. Amazingly, all the parts were there and there wasn't a scratch. Unreal considering the condition of the box but I will count my luck. Assembly -the firebox comes in two pieces (top/bottom). One of the holes didn't align at all (front left if looking down inside the top door)and I had to re-drill it. No big deal. The washers are entirely too small in the firebox as well and will press right through the holes here as you tighten them up.....so I put larger more substantial washers all the way around the inside of the fire box. The bolts for the firebox are realllllly looooowwwww grade and soft metal as well. Since the firebox flanges don't fit well togethor... Read more

      2.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor grill SH36209, May 9, 2011

The grill showed up in a torn box. When I put it together the two haves of the fire bow did not match up very well and there is a small separation in it to the point that I think it effects the temp in the firebox. The thermostat was also broken and is off on the temperature by 50 degrees. The rest of the grill is well constructed but I expected a lot more for 600 dollars. I would send it back if it wasn't for all the hassles, this is the first Smoke Hollow grill I have owned and I am not happy with it.
