Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Reviews
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful I really wanted to like this game....., = Fun: This review is from: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Video Game) I've played the Harry Potter Game Boy Advance games on the DS....as well as HP 4,5 and 6 on the DS platform. I was really looking forward to this game and I have to say....it was a HUGE let down for me.CONS: * From the start, the graphics are mediocre. The characters still don't speak, there are subtitles for the conversation. * The lack of conversation wouldn't have been so bad...if there was SOME background music. I thought I needed to adjust the settings on my DS because it was so quiet. But no, there is no background music. The only background sound that I have found, is when you are trying to cast a spell. Not even your decoy detonators make noise (I know, cause I wasted a bunch....couldn't tell if they were going off!!) * The controls are COMPLETELY wonky! You are given an invisibility cloak....which is completely useless. I found that even while invisible AND standing still, the death eaters still walked right over and found... Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince for PS3 are especially good, in that they really bring the stories to life and make you feel as though you're part of the action, especially in the way that they designed the map to be continuous. I love pretty much all the HP games that I've played so far - EXCEPT for this game and Order of the Phoenix for DS. Both games are SO poorly designed that they leave the player wondering if the designers were in a hurry, just plain not interested, or some pathetic combination of both. One of the BIGGEST flaws of this game is the fact that the characters never move their lips when they talk. I HATE it when designers do that! >:-( I mean, are they SO lazy or in too much of a hurry to take the extra time needed to make the characters' lips move? And do they ACTUALLY think that we won't NOTICE that, like all of a sudden our favorite characters are VENTRILOQUISTS now?! Come ON... This is the first game of Harry Potter that I bought for my Nintendo DS. I think I should get one of the previous games, though. I am enjoying this one, but get hung up on potion making. I'm just not fast enough for some of them. But I'm determined!! So, I guess that means I really like the challenge of the game! |
